Matt – Guitar & Vox
- Musical tastes – Anything miserable or anything nobody else likes
- Hobbies – Saying he isn’t going to buy any more guitars and then buying another guitar
Matt has been playing with himself for many years before he got the opportunity to join a band. This saved his eyesight and finally found a use for the guitar he had in the loft.
He was an original member of ‘Mid Life Crisis’ covers band. When that folded he and Peter formed The Remnants who comprise of those who were left lying around after MLC split.
« People label themselves with all sorts of adjectives. I can only pronounce myself as ‘nauseatingly miserable beyond repair »
– Franz Kafka
Duncan – Guitar
- Musical tastes – Rolling Stones, The Stones or anything featuring Mick Jagger, Keith Richard et al
- Hobbies – Not saying a lot
Duncan joined The Remnants 3 years ago mainly out of desperation to play the guitar with anyone or anywhere. He had been in a band previously but there is no evidence to support this. He can stick a solo into any song at a moment’s notice, even when it’s not required.
« The only performance that makes it, that makes it all the way is the one that achieves madness. »
– Mick Jagger
Steve – Bass guitar and backing vox
- Musical dislikes – Anything old that all other middle aged, rock and pop cover bands play
- Hobbies – being retired, not working and enjoying himself
Steve joined the Remnants 1 year ago and has regretted it ever since. Like all of us men he can’t multi-task. He loves a Bass riff and the occasional backing vocals but not at the same time. He does possess his own microphone but doesn’t want to wear it out by singing into it.
« The trouble with retirement is that you never get a day off »
– Abe Lemons
Peter – Drums
- Musical tastes – Anything on the 150,000 albums he owns
- Hobbies – giving building and DIY advice to his useless friends
Pete has been playing the drums for 5 years having started his career on a pair of old primary school maracas. He soon progressed to a full, state of the art drum kit with matching cymbals and turbo charged cowbell. Pete was also an original member of the Mid Life Crisis band and is co-founder of The Remnants.
Pete provides the band with their rehearsal room, although the rest of the band have to help push the sofa and telly to one side and usher his wife into the kitchen.
« Creativity is intelligence having fun »
– Albert Einstein
Clive – Vox, tambo, harmonica and anything else lying around
- Musical tastes – none
- Hobbies – Moaning and turning up late for practice
The Remnants is Clive’s third band. He was originally a member of Ipswich based Catch 66 where he played guitar. He then joined Pete and Matt in Mid Life Crisis and the Remnants where he played the bass guitar. Having not excelled at either he is now trying his hand at singing. All bets are off as to when he won’t excel at this either. However, his extreme tambourine solos are legendary.
« If you can’t do something willingly and joyfully, then don’t do it. If you give up drinking, don’t go moaning about it; go back on the bottle. Do. As. Thou. Wilt. »
– Peter O’Toole
